Winter charging details that cannot be ignored

With the sudden drop in temperature, many new energy vehicle owners have found that their cars not only have reduced range, but also encounter various minor issues while charging. Under low temperature conditions in winter, battery activity decreases,

The safety risks in the charging process have also increased accordingly. Today, we have compiled a "Winter Charging Safety Manual" for everyone, covering everything from preparation to emergency response, to help you safely survive the winter!

1、 Before charging: Conduct 2 checks to avoid charging with defects

1. Check the battery temperature to avoid "cold start" charging

Low temperatures can put the battery in a 'sleep state'. If the vehicle has been parked outdoors for more than 4 hours, it is recommended to preheat the vehicle and wait for the battery temperature to rise above 5 ℃ before inserting the charging gun

Effectively reduce battery loss.

2. Choose compliant charging stations and refuse 'flying wire charging'

Winter is a high-risk period for private wire charging, but low outdoor temperatures can accelerate wire aging and easily cause fires. It is recommended to prioritize using DC fast charging piles from regular charging stations.

2、 Charging: Keep in mind the two 'no's' and monitor the status in real-time

1. Turn on air conditioning while charging/use in car devices

If the heater, seat heating, or navigation are turned on at the same time, it will cause the battery to "charge and discharge at the same time", which not only prolongs the charging time but may also pose a risk of overheating due to excessive battery load.

2. Do not ignore abnormal situations

If these situations occur during the charging process, immediately unplug the charging gun and contact the 4S store: ① The charging interface is smoking and has a burnt smell; ② The vehicle dashboard displays a battery fault alarm; ③ Charging station

Frequent jumping of the gun or prompt 'charging failure'. Do not disassemble and repair on your own to avoid safety accidents.

3、 After charging: do two finishing touches to protect battery life

1. Pull out the charging gun in a timely manner to avoid overcharging. It is recommended to unplug the charging gun within half an hour after charging is completed. If the vehicle is not in use temporarily, the battery level can be kept at 50% -80% to avoid storing it at full charge.

2. Check the interface status and take protective measures

After pulling out the gun, check again whether the interface between the vehicle and the charging station is dry. If there is rainy weather in the next few days, you can put a special protective cover on the charging port cover of the vehicle to prevent water from entering the interface and affecting the next charging.

4、 Emergency Tips

Sudden power outage during outdoor charging?

First, confirm if there is a charging station malfunction. If it is a charging station malfunction, record the fault code and contact the charging station operation and maintenance personnel; If there is a power outage, unplug the charging gun and restart the charging process after power is restored,

To avoid damage to the battery due to a power outage midway.

Although winter charging may be a bit troublesome, as long as the details are properly protected, it can be both safe and efficient.

I hope this guide can be helpful to car owners. If you have any other winter driving tips, please feel free to share them in the comments section, so that more people can safely spend the winter
