Implemented from now on! The speed limit shall not exceed 25 kilometers per hour, and the power will be automatically cut off if the speed exceeds the limit

Recently, the new national standard for electric bicycles will come into effect today (September 1st). The new national standard has reformed the speed limit and the proportion of plastic materials used, among which the most concerning for consumers is that the maximum design speed of electric bicycles shall not exceed 25 kilometers per hour.

In order to prevent the occurrence of "unauthorized deceleration" phenomenon, the "new national standard" for electric bicycles implemented since September specifies that once the speed exceeds 25 kilometers per hour, the electric motor will automatically stop power output. In addition, the "new national standard" has also improved the anti tampering requirements for the battery pack, controller, and speed limiter of electric bicycles, and added Beidou positioning, communication, and dynamic safety monitoring functions.

Can old cars still be ridden after the implementation of the new regulations?

After September 1, 2025, all newly produced electric bicycles must comply with the new national standard requirements. In terms of sales, the new national standard provides an additional 3-month sales transition period for vehicles produced according to the old standard before August 31, 2025, allowing sales until November 30, 2025; After December 1, 2025, all electric bicycle products sold must comply with the new standard regulations.

Vehicles that do not meet the new standards and have been purchased by consumers will not be forcibly phased out. Local governments can use policies such as trade in to accelerate updates and replacements based on local conditions.

How to choose a new car after the implementation of the new regulations?

See CCC certification

Electric bicycles sold from the factory should be certified and labeled with the CCC mark on the body, indicating that the electric bicycle has been certified by a designated certification agency, meets mandatory national standards, and can be purchased and used with confidence.

Check the product certificate of conformity

According to relevant laws and regulations, electric bicycles sold from the factory should have a product qualification certificate, one certificate for each vehicle. Consumers can verify that the product model, vehicle code, and other information parameters on the accompanying product certificate are consistent with the actual vehicle when making a purchase.

To further verify the authenticity of the product qualification certificate and the validity of the CCC certification certificate, you can scan the QR code on the product qualification certificate or log in to the National Certification and Accreditation Information Public Service Platform (cx.cnca.cn) for confirmation.
